A DAY IN UTRECHT In the past I was obligated to go to the Spoorwegmuseum (Railway museum) every year because my brother always wanted to go ☺️. My brother still goes every year (a hardcore train lover) and for me this was the first time after years. Back then I wasn’t aware of the fact that this place was used during the Holocaust to transport people to the concentration camp Auschwitz’, what made me experience this museum in another state of mind. Aware of the fact that people are still tortured, bullied or killed because they are different. People with a different skin color, race, sexuality, religion, gender and so on. No lesson for some people learned from this... This photo doesn’t tells a sad story though: it’s a statue of a woman on a bank. These statues are often representations from elite women. These women posed voluntarily to make statues like this. The so called ‘hondekop’ (dog head) the train behind me, I call it the ‘stop train’, started to ride in the 50’s. We Dutchies may know this train in the color yellow/blue and in the past you could still smoke in this train. Do you remember? Now we have the so called ‘Sprinter’ Another thing when it comes to sustainability: according to research, the train is a better way of moving around than a car. And what also is great! GEMSTONES I’ve surrounded myself with gems since people started to give them for my grief process. My interest for gems has been increased so much. Gems are seen as a powerful tool to support healing. I do have medication to use when the pain is just too unbearable but I’m just aware of the fact that they can give side effects like an addiction. I’m not against medication, actually not at all. I think we should be thankful that medication is here, that it can help us mentally or physically and that medication can be a better or even the best option to use. Obviously it depends on the health situation if you ask me. In my situation I like to try to ease the pain in an alternative way, without chemicals. I’m so grateful that people came to me with gems. Some of them are shaped into jewelry like in this picture. Placebo-effect or not.. The non-chemical options can be useful to help me through difficult times as I see it. MIJN KLEINE VALENTIJN 💘 Gisteren was Valentijnsdag en dat is misschien zo een moment dat wanneer je geen relatie hebt je het gevoel kan hebben een beetje in een dip te zitten. Maar dat is niet nodig hoor. Jouw Valentijn kan iedereen zijn of meerdere mensen zijn. Je broer, zus, bestie, ouders, kinderen, kleinkinderen noem maar op. CHILI SIN CARNE RECIPE Why do I love beans that much. Don’t know 🥰. It may be a South-American/Caribbean thing and I’m not joking. I like beans in soup, beans with rice, beans with a wrap, bean ice cream (yes! That as well!), beans roasted. I’m not a salad person but with beans... you get the point 😁. These days I feel the need to do more items on social since the loss of Noël. It feels like a good way to ease the pain.
